About This Site (WELCOME!)

As soon as you hear those dreaded words, “You have cancer”, your world changes. Cancer can set you on a solitary journey. However, you are never alone and you will discover how strong you really are.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2014 and successfully treated at Touro Infirmary here in New Orleans. I am profoundly grateful for the wonderful staff at their dedicated Cancer Center

The aim of this blog is to provide additional support for this journey that no one wants to take. Some days are so overwhelming, you forget what resources are available to lighten your load.

As the song goes, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger".

Never Used a blog before ?

1. This blog is a free service provided by  Google so those of you who often read blogs may notice some differences.  This blog is functioning like an electronic bulletin board or newsletter.

2. Blog posts are listed chronologically. The latest post is at the top of the blog.

3. Pages are different. They contain basically static information, and, within this blog, usually contain links to general resource information  Pages, like this one, are listed on the right side of the blog. Paula Harrelson , besides being the leader of Touro's Survivorship Program, is our official phtographer. Click on her name (also on the right side of the page) if you are looking for a photo from a Touro event.

4. Labels are put at the end of each post. There is a "search" button on the right side of the blog. Enter a search term like "recipes" and you will get a link to each recipe in the blog.

5.  Since I am a native of New Orleans, music videos are interwoven within this blog. Music is an integral part of life  here. We believe in the healing power of music and art. Do you have a favorite song that helped you get through chemo?  The music is basically upbeat to encourage you to get up and move! As we say, "Dance like no one  is watching  😅 . Click on the "You Tube " playlist page for more information.

6. Eating plays an important role in our community. Making wise food choices can impact our health. I have included information and recipes since I know that I need to make better food and nutrition choices during the upcoming year.

7.  To make sure the pages load quickly, there is a limit to the number of words per page. At the bottom on each page, you will see a link for "home" (which will bring you to the most recent post) and one for "older posts" .
