Katrisa Johnson has a lot on her plate.
During the work week, this 41-year-old mom of five daughters and teacher often travels to visit students she mentors as a coordinator for a college and career readiness program in her home state of South Carolina. After her work day is done, she and her husband, Charles, also an educator, are on the move with three of their girls still at home—Amari (13), Camille (8), and Kristen (6)—to cheer practice or other activities. Sunday sees the family at church, filling up with the faith and fellowship that is at the core of their life as a family.
Life is rich and full for this busy family, and while the days are fast-paced, Johnson regularly takes time to pause and express thanks for all the blessings of her sometimes-hectic schedule. “I’m so grateful to be here today,” she says. “There were days when I didn’t think I would get this far.”
