Advocacy Update from the ACS' Cancer Action Network in Louisina

Cathy,
The Louisiana Tumor Registry (LTR) is at risk.
As one of the nation’s leading population-based cancer registries, the LTR is tasked with collecting data on cancer cases in Louisiana that helps our state implement effective prevention programs.
With a special legislative session ahead, funding for the LTR could be on the chopping block.
Cuts to the LTR would mean that Louisiana would no longer receive adequate federal funds to provide Louisiana citizens, health professionals and policy makers the information needed to help reduce the state’s cancer burden.
Over the next two weeks, ACS CAN will be working with our lawmakers to help ensure that vital funding for the LTR is sustained.
We’re going to need your help! So stay tuned for opportunities to take action – and in the meantime, you can find the latest updates on our Facebook page and our Louisiana ACS CAN Website.
Sincerely,
Alice Williams
LA Grassroots Manager
