Congratulations, you survived! And your reward? An increase of perspective on life. You now know that life is fragile and that time is short. You remember to hug your family a little tighter and make that phone call to the friend you’ve been meaning to see. You yell less on the road and make time to play games with your kids. After smiling at strangers at the store, you finally meet that neighbor down the street. You schedule the vacation you’ve been meaning to take and do things that scare you, because they make you feel more alive.
You know the moments pass by too quickly, so you don’t waste a single one.
But what about when you do?
There are still jerks on the road and grumpy neighbors down the street. Your spouse still has the quirks that annoy you, and children are still needy and impatient. Work is still stressful, and bills continue to pile on.
