Author Night

Author Talk: Sheba Turk

Sheba Turk is an anchorwoman like no other. Strong and capable, she forged a path to her successful career with perseverance and hard work. She seized the opportunities given to her and overcame enormous obstacles along the way. In her timely and moving book, Off Air: My Journey to the Anchor Desk, Turk shows us that we too can smooth that bumpy path using the wisdom earned in the early stages of her own career. She covers topics ranging from mentorship to establishing your own brand.

She is also the author of The Booklover's Guide to New Orleans (LSU Press, 1999/2013). Nancy Dixon, a Dillard English professor, is the editor of New Orleans & the World: 1718-2018 Tricentennial Anthology (LEH, 2017). There's Still Time

Open Enrollment for health coverage in 2019 ends on December 15, and we want to help. At the New Orleans Public Library you can:
  • Get help finding information you can trust about insurance and health topics
  • Use technology (computers, Internet, printing) to find information and fill out applications on your own
  • Find enrolling agencies in your community where you can go to get help signing up for a health plan
  • Attend office hours with a Certified Application Counselor (CAC) for one-on-one assistance, when available
Get more information on CAC availability here, and take our health programming survey here.
