Friday Nights at NOMA spotlights artists in Ear to the Ground,Saints fans wearing black and gold admitted free after 4 pm
Four artists represented in the exhibition Ear to the Ground: Earth and Element in Contemporary Art will discuss their works during Friday Nights at NOMA on January 18. In celebration of the Saints' NFC championship, visitors wearing the team's jerseys, apparel, or black and gold colors will be admitted FREE after 4 pm. Extended Trio will bring its contemporary jazz sound to the Great Hall and families are invited to create a project at the popular Art on the Spot activity table. Arrive early and stay late for the full range of programs:

- 5:30 - 8:30 pm | Music by Extended Trio (Watch a video)
- 6 - 8 pm | Series of Small Talks by artists Cristina Molina, Diedrick Brackens, Sara Madandar, and Dan Alley in Ear to the Ground

Photographer Timothy Duffy presents free tintype photography workshop on Saturday, January 19
NOMA visitors are invited to join photographer Timothy Duffy for a free workshop where he will demonstrate the tintype photography process on Saturday, January 19, from 1 - 3 pm. Widely popular in the 19th-century as a means of portraiture, Duffy has revived this antiquated medium in a series of images of American roots musicians that will be exhibited at NOMA beginning in April 2019.

Less than two weeks remain to view The Orléans Collection
NOMA's once-in-a-lifetime exhibition The Orléans Collection will be disassembled and sent back to 25 lending insitutions after Sunday, January 27. Make plans now to visit -- or revisit -- this reunion of European masterworks formerly housed in the Palais-Royal of New Orleans' namesake, Philippe II, Duke of Orléans. The final special event for the exhibition will be held during Friday Nights at NOMA on January 25 at 7 pm when art scholar Andrew McClellan will deliver a lecture titled "Viewing Art in 18th-Century Paris."

Small Talks, Noontime Talks, and daily tours
Small Talks are 10- to 15-minute discussions focused on a single object or small range of objects within the permanent collection or special exhibitions. In the week ahead, topics will include Georgia O'Keeffe's My Backyard and Antoine Coypel's Assembly of the Gods. View the full list of talks and tours.
Noontime Talks are casual conversations scheduled at noon between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors. Curator Katie Pfohl will lead visitors through the exhibition Ear to the Ground: Earth and Element in Contemporary Art on Wednesday, January 16. Curator Vanessa Schmid will discuss The Orléans Collection on Wednesday, January 23.
Docent-guided tours are offered daily at 1 pm. Tours of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are given on Saturdays and Mondays at noon, weather permitting. Call 504.658.4153 to verify.

Join a Create Late art making class on Friday, January 25
Exclusively for adults, kick off your weekend with a glass of wine and a hands-on art lesson during Friday Nights at NOMA. Enroll now in a Create Late session from 6:30 - 8 pm on Friday, January 25. StoryQuest bonds families around art and storytelling
Families bond around the act of reading children's literature at StoryQuest. A professional storyteller will read a book about family on Saturday, January 19, at 11 am. Ideal for children ages 2-7, no registration is required and the activity is free with museum admission.

Children engage in hands-on art activities in Studio KIDS!
Studio KIDS! returns with a range of activities that allow children ages 5 to 10 to get creative in an art making class. Each session features different media under the instruction of teaching artist Belinda Tanno. Studio KIDS! will be held on the following Saturday mornings from 10 to 11:30 am:

- February 2 - Honored Ancestors
- February 16 - Creative Collage
- March 9 - Pastel Drawing: Vibrant Blooms
- March 16 - Acrylic Painting: Color Me Happy

Enroll now in Mindfulness Classes starting January 19
Back by popular demand, a series of eight Mindfulness Classes will offered on Saturday mornings from 10 to 11:30 am from January 19 through March 16. Dr. Jayashee Rao will lead sessions that allow participants to live in the moment with curiosity, without judgement, and a willingness to be with what is. NOMA, in collaboration with East Jefferson Wellness Center, offers wellness classes every Saturday morning and Monday evening.

In the weeks ahead at NOMA
Friday, February 1, 7 pm: NOMA's Arts & Letters Series continues with novelist and biographer Edmund White, a pioneer in gay literature, joining Tulane professor Thomas Beller for a discussion during Friday Nights at NOMA.
Friday, February 8, 5 - 9 pm: A Night of India will feature Indian music, food, dance, movies, and gallery tours as NOMA partners with the Indian Arts Circle of New Orleans for an evening celebration.
