On January 1st at 8 PM CST, the documentary Love, Gilda will premiere on CNN in televisions across the country.
The film about the life of Gilda Radner, the first person cast to be on Saturday Night Live, opens up a unique window into the honest and whimsical world of a beloved performer whose greatest role was sharing her story—including her courageous battle with cancer.
When diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1986, Radner sought support from The Wellness Community in Santa Monica, now the Cancer Support Community. She called for similar support-focused organizations to be available not only on the West Coast, but everywhere. In 1991, Gilda’s Club Worldwide was founded in her memory.
Today, Cancer Support Community and Gilda’s Clubs are together, providing $50 million in free services for patients and their loved ones so that no one faces cancer alone.
