From Bollywood dancing to savory foods and special tours, NOMA opens the doors for A Night of India on Friday, February 8th
The Indian Arts Circle of New Orleans joins NOMA for an evening of sights, sounds, and flavors from the Indian subcontinent for Friday Nights at NOMA on February 8. Sample foods from local restaurants, watch Bollywood dancers, join a tour of the Indian Arts Galleries or take a seat for a screening of The Man Who Knew Infinity (see trailer below). Arrive early and stay late for the full lineup of programs:

- 5:30 - 8:30 pm | Indo-New Orleans fusion music by Andrew McLean (Watch a video)
- 6 and 7 pm | Bollywood dancers

Enroll now in 'On Collecting' workshop with curators, a how-to session on creating a private photography collection
The first of a new series of curator-led workshops, "On Collecting" will allow participants to draw upon specialist knowledge and practical expertise in building a private collection. On Tuesday, February 19, from 6 - 8 pm, Curator Russell Lord and Curatorial Fellow Brian Piper will discuss collecting photography, presented in conjunction with the exhibition Past Present Future: Building Photography at the New Orleans Museum of Art. The fee for this one-time session is $75 for NOMA members | $100 for nonmembers. Enroll now.

Early members-only enrollment for Summer Art Camps begins February 11th
From February 11 to 17 NOMA members are eligible for early enrollment in full-day Summer Art Camps, which will run in eight weeklong sessions from June 3 to August 3 (excluding the week of July 4). Nonmembers may enroll beginning February 18.

Join a talk or tour
Noontime Talks are casual conversations scheduled at noon between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors. Curator Russell Lord will discuss selections from Past Present Future: Building Photography at the New Orleans Museum of Art on Wednesday, February 6.
Docent-guided tours are offered daily at 1 pm. Tours of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are given on Saturdays and Mondays at noon, weather permitting. Call 504.658.4153 to verify.

NOMA Book Club to discuss biography of prominent art collectors Dominique and John de Menil
Join fellow book lovers for monthly discussions about fiction and nonfiction books related to art, artists, art museums, NOMA's collections and exhibitions.
The NOMA Book Club's selection for February is Double Vision: The Unerring Eye of Art World Avatars Dominique and John de Menil by William Middleton. This Franco-American couple became one of greatest cultural forces of the twentieth century through the creation of groundbreaking exhibitions of art, investment in art scholarship, and the creation of innovative, world-renowned galleries and museums in their chosen home of Houston, Texas.
Group discussion about the book will be held in the Felix J. Dreyfous Library on NOMA's ground floor on Thursday, February 21, from 12 - 1 pm. A group trip to Houston to tour the de Menil Collection and other cultural attractions has been planned. Children engage in hands-on art activities in Studio KIDS!
Studio KIDS! returns with a range of activities that allow children ages 5 to 10 to get creative in an art making class. Each session features different media under the instruction of skilled teaching artists. Studio KIDS! will be held on the following Saturday mornings from 10 to 11:30 am:

- March 9 - Pastel Drawing: Vibrant Blooms
- March 16 - Acrylic Painting: Color Me Happy

NOMA, in collaboration with East Jefferson Wellness Center, offers wellness classes every Saturday morning and Monday evening.
Yoga in the Sculpture Garden: Saturday, February 9, 8 - 9 am
Tai Chi/Chi Kung: Monday, February 11, 6 - 7 pm

In the weeks ahead
Friday, February 15, 5 - 9 pm: The sixteenth-annual Tulane Maya Symposium, open to the public as part of Friday Nights at NOMA, will feature a keynote address by Jeremy A. Sobloff of the Santa Fe Institute titled "Is 'Collapse' A Useful Term in Understanding Pre-Columbian Maya History?"
There will be no Friday Nights at NOMA for February 22 or March 1 and 8.
Friday, March 15: A new exhibition, Keith Sonnier: Until Today, opens. This survey of the Louisiana-born conceptual artist features many sculptural works made of neon.
