Author Zachary Lazar and photographer Deborah Luster will be featured in One Book One New Orleans discussion
On Wednesday, April 24, from 5 - 7 pm, in partnership with One Book One New Orleans, NOMA will host a discussion with Zachary Lazar, author of the new novel Vengeance, along with Deborah Luster, a photographer with connections to the storyline. The book centers upon an inmate at Louisiana's state penitentiary at Angola, and the first chapter is set at the prison's annual Passion Play, an event that Luster has photographed. Bobby Wallace, an actor who played the role of Jesus in this theatrical production, will also join the conversation, moderated by essayist Garnette Cadogan. Music will be performed by Mario Abney. Admission is free.

Dickie Landry will perform solo saxophone concert at NOMA on Thursday, May 2
As Jazz Fest gets underway in New Orleans, NOMA will host a concert by Louisiana-born saxophonist Dickie Landry on Thursday, May 2, from 6 - 8 pm. The renowned musician, photographer, composer and artist is among the "Five From Louisiana" who emerged in the 1970s, which included Keith Sonnier, whose retrospective fills NOMA's ground-floor rotating exhibition gallery through June 2. A Shakespearean sequel arrives in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden for twelve nights in May
The NOLA Project returns to the Besthoff Sculpture Garden for twelve nights from May 8 - 26 with a new play by Michael Aaron Santos specifically written for the space. The Henchman: A Shakespeare Story is a spinoff to A Midsummer Night's Dream that provides a sequel story about the character Jacob, the changeling boy. NOMA Book Club to discuss Da Vinci biography
The NOMA Book Club's selection for May is Leonardo Da Vinci by Walter Isaacson.
Curator of Education Tracy Kennan will lead a curatorial program on Wednesday, May 1, from 12 - 1 pm, about color. Group discussion about the book will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 12 - 1 pm. Join a talk or tour
Gallery Talks are casual conversations scheduled at noon between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors. Community Outreach Curator Nic Aziz will offer background on the exhibition of Vodou flags in NOMA's Great Hall, Bondye: Between and Beyond, on Wednesday, April 24.
Guided tours of the museum are offered daily at noon. Tours of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are given on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays at noon, weather permitting. Call 504.658.4153 to verify.

Summer Art Camps open for enrollment
Summer Art Camps are selling out fast. Enroll now in any or all of the eight weeklong sessions from June 3 to August 2 (excluding the week of July 4). The fee is $300 per week for NOMA members | $400 per week for nonmembers. Choose from visual or performing art camps for age groups 5-7 and 8-10.

Wellness Classes among the artworks
NOMA, in collaboration with East Jefferson Wellness Center, offers wellness classes every Saturday morning and Monday evening.
Yoga in the Sculpture Garden: Saturday, April 27, 8 - 9 am
Tai Chi/Chi Kung: Monday, April 29, 6 - 7 pm
Classes are $5; FREE for NOMA members and East Jefferson Wellness Center members. To register, call East Jefferson Healthfinder at 504.456.5000.

Besthoff Sculpture Garden expansion opens May 15
The much-anticipated expansion of the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden opens to the public on Wednesday, May 15, at 11 am. Read more about our progress on this exciting addition to NOMA.
Please note that the museum will be closed all day on Tuesday, May 14, for a special event. The original Sculpture Garden will be open on that date, but with shortened hours from 10 am to 2 pm.
