Advocacy Request from the American Cancer Society

Cathy,

Cancer patients could be in trouble. Big trouble.

Health Secretary Azar and the Administration are finalizing a proposal that could allow insurance companies to overrule your oncologist.

We thought we had this proposal stopped (thanks to your work earlier this year), but it’s become clear that Secretary Azar and his staff still aren’t convinced it could hurt cancer patients.

This proposed regulation could allow Medicare Part D insurance plans to:
  • Deny patients coverage for the newest cancer drugs
  • Overrule your oncologist and refuse to provide the drug your doctor recommends
  • Force you to try drugs your oncologist knows won’t work before giving you the lifesaving cancer drug you need
We must be sure the voices of cancer patients are heard even more loudly and forcefully than before. That’s why I need you to act right now, before it’s too late.

Send this new message to Secretary Azar and ask him to protect cancer patients by stopping this proposed regulation once and for all.

Cancer patients can’t wait for appeals and red tape to get access to the cancer drugs that could save their life.

This proposal would apply to 43 million Americans, including millions of cancer patients. So please, take one minute right now to send your message using our easy action form.

Thank you,

Korinne Moore Berenson
