| Friday Nights at NOMA returns with discussion about 'Ghosts of Segregation' photo project
In conjunction with the exhibition You Are Here: A Brief History of Photography and Place, NOMA welcomes photographer Rich Frishman in conversation with Curatorial Fellow Brian Piper as part of Friday Nights at NOMA on May 24. At 7 pm, Frishman will discuss his ongoing series Ghosts of Segregation, a project that documents the physical vestiges of the Jim Crow era, from segregated schools, bus stations, and movie theaters, to sites of lynchings.
All galleries, special exhibitions, Café NOMA and the Museum Shop will remain open until 9 pm. The popular Art on the Spot activity table for all ages will be in operation from 5 - 8 pm.

A Shakespearean sequel arrives in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, run extended through May 31
The NOLA Project returns to the Besthoff Sculpture Garden for fifteen nights from May 8 - 31 with a new play by Michael Aaron Santos specifically written for the space. The Henchman: A Shakespeare Story is a spinoff to A Midsummer Night's Dream that provides a sequel story about the character Jacob, the changeling boy. Enroll now for two-day intensive Mindfulness class
Back by popular demand, a two-day intensive course in Mindfulness will be offered on Saturday June 1, and Sunday, June 2, from 10 am to 5 pm. Dr. Jayashee Rao will lead sessions that allow participants to live in the moment with curiosity, without judgement, and with a willingness to be with what is. Book Club: Meet the author of a book that analyzes Louisa May Alcott's Little Women
Anne Boyd Rioux, author of Meg, Jo, Beth, Amy: The Story of Little Women and Why It Still Matters, will discuss her literary research during a meet-the-author session of the NOMA Book Club on Thursday, May 30, from noon to 1 pm. Boyd's lecture serves as an introduction to the reading selection for the month of June, The Other Alcott: A Novel by Elise Hooper. Discussion of that book will be held on Tuesday, June 11, at noon.

Few spaces remain for Summer Art Camps
Summer Art Camps are selling out fast. Enroll now in any or all of the eight weeklong sessions from June 3 to August 2 (excluding the week of July 4). The fee is $300 per week for NOMA members | $400 per week for nonmembers. Choose from visual or performing art camps for age groups 5-7 and 8-10.

Join a talk or tour
Gallery Talks are casual conversations scheduled at noon between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors. Curatorial Fellow Brian Piper will discuss
on Wednesday, May 22, at noon. Curator Katie Pfohl will lead visitors thorugh the exhibition Keith Sonnier: Until Today on Wednesday, May 29, at noon.
Guided tours of the museum are offered daily at 1 pm. Tours of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are given on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays at noon, weather permitting. Call 504.658.4153 to verify.

Wellness Classes among the artworks
NOMA, in collaboration with East Jefferson Wellness Center, offers wellness classes every Saturday morning and Monday evening.

In the weeks ahead
Friday, June 1, 6 - 9 pm: In partnership with the Louisiana Architecture Foundation and the Louisiana chapter of the National Minority Architects, NOMA will screen the documentary The Black Museum, which chronicles the construction and 2016 opening the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC.
