Fresh & Local:Eat Like a Local
It is time for the annual New Orleans Eat Local Challenge! Sign up and join us to eat only what is grown, caught or foraged within 200 miles for the month of June, all while enjoying a variety of fun events to support you in this endeavor. Stock up at our markets to fill your fridge with fresh, local fruits and vegetables (squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, blueberries, watermelon, and sweet corn to name a few), as well as a full range of proteins and dairy, and join other participants through events like an urban farm bike tour, or learn how to raise your own chickens - eggs from your backyard is as local as it gets! Get intimately acquainted with the local bounty and don’t forget, coffee doesn’t grow here but there’s no need to forgo caffeine as J&D Blueberry Farm and their Pearl River Tea Company has returned to markets with locally grown tea. All Saturday CBD markets for the month will feature kids activities as well as demos, samples and/or tastings.

Picks of the Week:Cukes Galore
As the season heats up we are seeing more and more hot weather crops at the market, among them the beloved cucumber. A kid-approved and versatile vegetable, cucumbers are high in water and low in just about everything else, making them an optimal snack for the summer. Plus, with such a high water content, they are hydrating and will keep your thirst quenched during these hot months. Vendor of the Week:Honest Foods Company
Bread lovers rejoice! You may have seen our new bread vendor, Honest Foods Company, at the Ochsner and Bucktown markets, but now you can find them at the Uptown market on Tuesdays. Baker Irina believes bread is the soul of every meal and uses unbleached, unbromated whole grain flour. For sweetness, Honest Foods Company uses honey harvested from their own hives instead of sugar and tons of market ingredients. Find an extensive variety of vegan, plant-based breads every week at their table!

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special:Thali Llama
After traveling all over India, Tyler and Merritt returned to New Orleans and launched their regional Indian pop-up Thali Llama. Thali Llama focuses on different regional cuisines of India, where the couple explores dishes learned throughout their travels. Together, business and life partners Tyler and Merritt pop up around town and Carrollton Market and has joined us at the Green Plate Special for the month of May! Stop by every Tuesday for some heartwarming dishes including mango curry, butter chicken, and more!
