Eat Local Challenge - This Week's Schedule of Events

The Eat Local Challenge is underway!

As always we have a variety of events planned during the month of June for Eat Local Challenge participants.

 
Thursday 6/13 Raising Backyard Chickens
6:30PM-8:30PM | Grow On Urban Farm

Learn all you need to know about raising happy healthy chickens! Coops and runs, raising chicks, buying adult birds, egg production, egg-eaters and brooding hens will be among the topics discussed.
$20. Please buy tickets in advance. (Get in touch if cost is an issue.)

Friday 6/14 Water Management Basics
6:30PM-8:30PM | Grow On Urban Farm

Learn about simple DIY solutions to help prevent flooding on your property including French drains, rain barrels and water gardens. Benefits of rain water and how it can be integrated into garden irrigation and ecological improvement will also be discussed. 
$20. As always, reach out if cost is an issue.

Saturday 6/15 Shop with Made Grocery
11:00AM-3:00PM | 8201 Oak Street

A day filled with local vendors, tastings, special products, local food options and more at Made Grocery (formerly Simone's Market).

Saturday 6/15 Grow Dat Community Lunch
11:30AM-1:00PM | 150 Zachary Taylor Drive

Join the youth leaders at Grow Dat Youth Farm as the present what they've learned in the last year. Topics include food justice, sustainable living, herbal medicine, cooking skills, the history of farming and much more! Discussion will be followed by lunch provided by Grow Dat.

Saturday 6/15 Dig Easy Compost Party
6:00PM-10:00PM | Grow On 2358 Urquhart St.

Join us for live music, market (just before Father's Day!), drinks, local food pop-up, clothing swap, and compost drop off (bring your compostables!). 
 
 
Crescent City Farmers Market is having weekly kids activities during June! It's the perfect time to directly support your local farmers, fishers and food makers. More info on our calendar.
