Kitchen Medicine with Rosalie Apothecary
Preventative medicine starts in the kitchen with healing herbs and foods. In this class, we will discuss the medicinal benefits of common culinary herbs and the digestive system as the root of health. Participants will work together to make fire cider. Bicycling for All with AARP LA, Krewe de Lose & Bike Easy
Learn about the rules of the road & the City of New Orleans’ Moving New Orleans: Bike initiative, with opening remarks from City Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer. Join the Library, Tulane Brinton Family Health and Healing Center’s Krewe de Lose, AARP Louisiana and Bike Easy for a free bicycling safety workshop to learn about rules of the road and the City of New Orleans’ Moving New Orleans: Bike initiative. The workshop will also include bike helmet fitting, bicycle safety check and collision avoidance, with opening remarks from City Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer. Families are welcome and free snowballs will be provided. Free collapsible water bottles and bike lights for participants. In partnership with Tulane Brinton Family Health and Healing Center’s Krewe de Lose, AARP Louisiana and Bike Easy. Sponsored by Friends of the New Orleans Public Library.

Hurricane Preparedness
Learn how to be storm-ready with NOLA Ready, ISeeChange, Evacuteer, Imagine Water Works, and New Orleans Public Library's City Archives. Staff from NOLA Ready will discuss personal preparedness, community preparedness, the city-assisted evacuation program, flood insurance, and other storm-related topics. City Archives staff will follow the NOLA Ready presentation with advice on preparing your important documents for evacuation. Representatives from ISeeChange and Evacuteer will be onsite to answer questions and share information. The Little Library of Water will be unveiled.

Altered Book Workshop with Southern Letterpress
Make art and give new life to old books. An altered book is a sculptural book form that takes inspiration from the original content of a used book to become an artwork in and of itself. With Jessica Petersen from Southern Letterpress, look at examples of successful altered books. Then, starting with a stack of used books and a series of exercises meant to prompt creativity, explore different methods of alteration from changing the text, to collage, to painting and cutting. In partnership with Southern Letterpress. Sponsored by the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library.

Amnesty Late Fee Forgiveness Program
The Mayor’s Office, working with the Department of Finance, is providing an Amnesty Late Fee Forgiveness Program for residents to take advantage of incentives to clear past-due accounts with parking and camera tickets, sales and hotel/motel taxes, code enforcement violations, and library fees. From June 3 - September 3, 2019, residents will be allowed in certain circumstances to pay fees without penalties or additional fees in order to get a fresh start when paying for City services.
