Friday, September 27: LOVE in the Garden welcomes patrons for a nighttime fundraising party under the stars
NOMA's annual fall fundraiser, LOVE in the Garden, takes place this Friday, September 27, from 6:30 to midnight. Guests will enjoy food from more than 60 of New Orleans' finest restaurants and craft cocktails from competitive bartenders, along with music and dancing beneath the stars in the magical setting of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. Purchase tickets now for this party like no other. Online ticket sales end on Friday, September 27, at 10 am; Phone sales at (504) 658-4121 will end on that day until noon. Ticket will be available at the door.

The NOLA Project presents William Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, final productions through September 29
The NOLA Project returns to NOMA's Great Hall for a new twist on the Shakespearean classic Measure for Measure. Three performances remain: Wednesday, September 25; Saturday, September 28; and Sunday September 29. All shows begin at 7:30 pm. NOMA members receive an admission discount. Purchase advance tickets at nolaproject.com. Café NOMA will serve drinks and light refreshments through intermission.

Attend a tour, talk, or gallery activation
Guided tours of the museum are offered daily at 1 pm.
Tours of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are given on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays at noon, weather permitting. Call (504) 658-4153 to verify.
Numerous events will be held on Wednesday, September 25:
- 12 pm: Curator Mel Buchanan will discuss the newly reinstalled Latter-Schlesinger Collection of Portrait Miniatures.
- 1 pm: Writer Kristina Kay Robinson will join curators for a reading and activation of Wafaa Bilal's installation 168:01. The installation, pictured above, allows visitors to take a blank white book in exchange for a printed book, available for sale in the NOMA Shop, that will be shipped to Baghdad, Iraq, at the close of the exhibition Bodies of Knowledge. - 3 pm: Curator Ndubuisi Ezeloumba will lead visitors through NOMA's African Art Galleries.

Videos by Iranian-exile artist Shirin Neshat screened every Wednesday through October 9
Three videos by Iranian-born artist Shirin Neshat will be screened on continuous loop from 10 am to 1 pm every Wednesday through October 9 in Stern Auditorium as part of the Bodies of Knowledge exhibition. Titled Turbulent, Rapture, and Fervor, the short films capture the dichotomies of modern life in Iran and implications of the 1979 Islamic revolution upon women. High school students encouraged to join Teen Squad
The Teen Squad is a council of 12 New Orleans-area high school students who serve as youth leaders for the museum. Members engage in arts-programming of all kinds and help plan and implement teen events at NOMA. Applications are being accepted through September 27. Teen Squad members will meet regularly on Thursday evenings, October through May.

Studio KIDS! fall workshops open for enrollment
This fall Studio KIDS! presents eight workshops for children ages 5 to 10 who want to get creative and learn art-making techniques inspired by works at NOMA and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. The classes are held Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.; cost per class: $25 members | $30 nonmembers. In the next class, scheduled for Saturday, October 5, participants will create a grayscale collage using found words and images in black, white, and shades of gray. Wellness Classes among the artworks
NOMA, in collaboration with East Jefferson Wellness Center, offers wellness classes every Saturday morning and Monday evening.
Yoga in the Sculpture Garden: Saturday, September 28, 8 to 9 am
Tai Chi/Chi Kung: Monday, September 30, 6 to 7 pm

In the weeks ahead
Friday, October 4, 5 - 9 pm: Artist Wilmer Wilson will discuss his career and his video Black Mask, on view in the exhibition Bodies of Knowledge, at 6:30 pm as part of Friday Nights at NOMA.
Saturday, October 5, 2 pm: The Artist's Choice Film Series concludes with a screening of the 1980 hit movie Fame, selected by performance artist Edward Spots.
Saturday, October 12, 10 am - 5 pm: Japan Fest returns to NOMA with drumming demonstrations, food booths, vendors, anime cosplayers, and children's activities.
Select evenings, October 16 through November 10, 7 pm: The NOLA Project presents an updated twist on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow for twelve productions in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. Read more and purchase advance tickets.
Thursday, October 24, 6 pm: Artist Fred Wilson, best known for his role in refiguring the representation of race in museums, will join New Orleans-based artist Ron Bechet in conversation for the annual Donna Peret Rosen Lecture.
