Louisiana landscape exhibition opens November 16
As the first major exhibition of Louisiana landscape paintings in more than 40 years, Inventing Acadia: Painting and Place in Louisiana reveals how the state became a nexus of artists pushing the boundaries of the traditional landscape genre. The exhibition of works by such artists as Joseph Reesling Meeker, Richard Clague, and Alfred Boisseau will remain on view through January 26, 2020. Curator Katie Pfohl will deliver a lecture during Friday Nights at NOMA on November 22.

Tickets and sponsorships on sale for Odyssey 2019
NOMA will be transformed into a mysterious rendezvous on Friday, November 15, as the museum hosts the 2019 Odyssey Ball presented by IBERIABANK. Themed Mystère Louisiane, this unparalleled evening of dining, dancing, libations, and live music raises funds for NOMA's exhibitions and educational programs.

Free admission on Thursday and Friday, November 14-15
Admission to NOMA will be free to all visitors on Thursday, November 14, and Friday, November 15, as the museum prepares for the Odyssey Ball. The museum will close early on Friday at 3 pm (Café NOMA closes at 2 pm), while the Besthoff Sculpture Garden remains open until 5 pm. If you are unable to join us for the Odyssey Ball, please consider supporting NOMA at one of our many donation boxes, or making a contribution online at the link below.

Attend a tour or talk
Guided tours of the museum are offered daily at 1 pm.
Tours of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are given on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays at noon, weather permitting. Call (504) 658-4153 to verify.

- 12 pm | Curator Lisa Rotondo-McCord will discuss the exhibition
- 3 pm | Assistant Curator Brian Piper will lead visitors through the photography exhibition Tina Freeman: Lamentations.

Studio KIDS! fall workshops open for enrollment
This fall Studio KIDS! presents eight workshops for children ages 5 to 10 who want to get creative and learn art-making techniques inspired by works at NOMA and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. The classes are held Saturday mornings from 10 am to 12 pm; cost per class: $25 members | $30 nonmembers. In the next class, scheduled for Saturday, November 16, participants will make batik napkins and handkerchiefs. Baby ArtsPlay! workshops engage visitors ages 0-3
Instill a love of art at an early age through a guided, interactive experience with Baby ArtsPlay! Young Audiences Wolf Trap teaching artists will present a series of six workshops on Saturday mornings for children ages 0-3 and their caregivers. Parents, grandparents, guardians and their young ones are welcome to join the the first session on Saturday, November 16, at 10:30 am, which will focus on early language skills. Free Family Field Day features daylong activities in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden expansion
A FREE Family Field Day Festival will be held on Saturday, November 23, from 10 am to 2 pm in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden expansion. Activities will range from live musical performances by Washboard Chaz and pop-up talks about sculptures to storytelling sessions and hands-on art-making activities inspired by the garden's flora and birdlife.
