Fragmented Landscapes film series addresses relationship of people to their environment
In conjunction with Inventing Acadia: Painting and Place in Louisiana, a series of short films collectively titled Fragmented Landscapes by the arts collective Deltaworkers will be screened on select Saturdays. The series kicks off on Saturday, December 7, at 2 pm with four films presented under the theme New Ideas About Landscape.

Environmental justice discussion focuses on hazards in New Orleans
With two exhibitions addressing environmental concerns in Louisiana, NOMA will host an Arts and Letters conversation on Wednesday, December 11, at 6 pm between author Thomas Beller and Monique Harden of the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice on the subject of her work exposing the toxic waste sites in New Orleans, past and present.

- African Art Curator Ndubuisi Ezeluomba will discuss the objects on view in Ancestors in Stone.

- Artist Lily Brooks, whose photographic work addresses weather and climate, will provide her perspective on the exhibition Tina Freeman: Lamentations.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12, 6 pm
- Keith Calhoun and Chandra McCormick, a New Orleans-based husband-and-wife team of photographers, will discuss their work at the keynote lecture for PhotoNOLA, followed by a book signing in the Museum Shop.

Studio KIDS! December workshops open for enrollment
This fall Studio KIDS! presents eight workshops for children ages 5 to 10 who want to get creative and learn art-making techniques inspired by works at NOMA and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. The classes are held Saturday mornings from 10 am to 12 pm; cost per class: $25 members | $30 nonmembers. Two workshops remain for 2019: December 7 (Zentangle pen drawings) and December 14 (Stained-glass windows). Baby ArtsPlay! workshops engage visitors ages 0-3
Instill a love of art at an early age through a guided, interactive experience with Baby ArtsPlay! Young Audiences Wolf Trap teaching artists will present a series of six workshops on Saturday mornings for children ages 0-3 and their caregivers. Parents, grandparents, guardians and their young ones are welcome to join the the sixth session on Saturday, December 7, at 10:30 am, which will focus on "Baby Balancing Acts" (Bilaterial Integration). Saturday, December 14, 10 am: In conjunction with Inventing Acadia, Xodo Botanicals will lead a scent-blending workshop that allows participants to create a unique fragrance from essential oils and native raw materials. $25 NOMA Members | $30 Nonmembers. Advance registration is required.
Saturday, December 14, 1 pm: Photographer Tina Freeman will sign copies of her exhibition-companion book Lamentations in the Museum Shop.
Wednesday, December 18, 6 pm: Artist Regina Agu will join Tia Simone-Gardner in a discussion sponsored by The Helis Foundation about Agu's panoramic installation Passage, on view in the Great Hall through February 10, 2020.
