Cancer Community on The Mighty
from Mighty editor Erin Migdol
Despite their best intentions, our loved ones don't always know the best ways to support us.
It’s safe to say most people want to be supportive of their loved ones who have been diagnosed with cancer — but whether or not they’re actually successful is another matter. It’s not always obvious to our friends and family what we need from them, and it’s easy for them to make assumptions like, “She probably doesn’t want to hear from me right now,” or “I’ll send him that article I saw about the new diet that cures cancer.” Unfortunately no one gets a “cancer manual” to pass out to their friends, but Mighty contributor Jaime Robbins’ list of cancer etiquette tips comes pretty close. Share with your networks and leave a comment to add any of your own etiquette tips.
