Alia Ali: FLUX exhibition opens in the Great Hall
 
Yemeni-Bosnian artist Alia Ali considers how politics, economies, and histories collide in a series of photographs of subjects concealed in African wax-print fabric. The exhibition, opening Friday, February 21, will remain on view through August 2, 2020.

March 6: NOMA's Teen Squad presents Teen Night: VIBRANT DIMENSIONS   
 
Brought to you by NOMA's Teen Squad, Teen Night: VIBRANT DIMENSIONS is a Friday night takeover at the museum planned by teens, for teens. On Friday, March 6 from 6 to 9 pm enjoy a FREE night of art, music, and activities inspired by the work of artists Alia Ali and Odili Donald Odita. All teens receive free admission to the museum year-round courtesy of The Helis Foundation. 
Sign up for Studio KIDS! workshops
 
The Studio KIDS! workshop series is underway! Children ages 5 to 10 are invited to get creative and learn art-making techniques inspired by works in the galleries and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. Classes are held Saturday mornings from 10 am to 12 pm. The next workshop will be held on March 7 under the theme "Imprints in the Interior." $25 members | $30 nonmembers. 
When completed, the newly renovated auditorium complex will allow for a versatile performance and event space.
Renovation underway to build multifunctional auditorium

Construction has begun to transform NOMA's existing auditorium into a flexible and contemporary space ideal for hosting a wider range of events and programs, from theater-in-the-round to banquets, along with movies, lectures, music, dance, and other performances.

Guided tours of the museum are offered daily at 1 pm.  

Tours of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are given on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays at noon, weather permitting. Call (504) 658-4153 to verify.

Teen Days of Service scheduled through spring 2020
 
Teens of all ages are invited to participate in monthly days of service in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden on the following Saturdays: February 29, March 28, and April 25, from 8:30 to 11:30 am. Contact Garden Manager Pamela Buckman at (504) 658-4153. 
Wednesday, March 25: SAVE THE DATE! Sponsorships and tickets are on sale for the patron preview, lectures, and a luncheon for the 2020 Art in Bloom presented by IBERIABANK. The showcase of floral displays will be on view from Thursday, March 26*, through Sunday, March 29. (*Note that public hours will be from 1 - 7 pm on March 26; standard hours apply to all other days. The museum will be open on Friday, March 27 until 9 pm.)
Saturday, April 4, 10 am to 1 pm: Tickets are now on sale for the 2020 NOMA Egg Hunt and Family Festival. Bring your family for a fun-filled day featuring egg hunts, a petting zoo, face painting, crafts, and more!
In the weeks ahead
 
Friday, March 13: The exhibition Buddha and Shiva, Lotus and Dragon: Masterworks from the Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller Collection at Asia Society opens. Friday Nights at NOMA will include a lecture by Asian art scholar Robert Del Bontà at 6 pm and an artist talk with Alia Ali at 7 pm.

Saturday, March 14: India Fest, a vibrant celebration of the art, food, dance, and many cultures of India returns to NOMA, in partnership with the Indian Arts Circle of New Orleans. Hours are 10 am to 4 pm. General admission is $10 | $5 for NOMA members
Yoga and Tai Chi will not be held on February 22 and 24
Yoga in the Sculpture Garden, Saturdays, 8 --    9 am
Tai Chi/Chi Kung, Mondays, 6 --    7 pm
$5 | Free for NOMA and East Jefferson Wellness Center members

The NOMA Book Club reading selections for 2020 have been chosen.
