This Week at the New Orleans Museum of Art ("NOMA")

OCTOBER 14, 2020

Catfish often appear in Diedrick Brackens’s weavings as ancestral figures or spirit guides. Brackens builds new mythologies around these often ignored creatures. The artist's If you feed a river (2019) is included in the exhibition Mending the Sky.

MENDING THE SKY ON VIEW NOW

This fall the New Orleans Museum of Art will present Mending the Sky, the museum’s first major exhibition following the months-long shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On view through January 31, 2021, the exhibition features eleven artists’ projects that respond to a world turned upside down.

CONTACTLESS TICKETING

Prepaid, contactless ticketing is encouraged for museum visits: Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Wednesdays remain free for Louisiana residents courtesy of The Helis Foundation.

ODYSSEY 2020

Limited tickets remain for three nights of themed music, food, and art tours—with safety in mind—for a modified version of our annual fundraising gala.*

NOMA will adhere to all local and state mandates. In the event of a resurgence of COVID-19 in the late fall, NOMA will make every effort to reschedule Odyssey dates. In the case that we are unable to reschedule, your ticket purchase will be considered a 100% tax-deductible donation to NOMA. Tickets are nonrefundable.

WELLNESS

Join NOMA for a new virtual series of free quarterly workshops that focus on mindfulness, creativity, comfort and reflection. The first session will be held on Friday, October 23, at 6 pm.

MUSIC IN THE GARDEN

Tickets are now on sale for a concert with Radio Bird Quartet on Friday, October 30, at 6 pm in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. Pre-order a meal box from Café NOMA.
