For Children & Teens: Project Art NOLA

ProjectArt provides a pathway for students to access the arts within their own communities. Artists teach live remote classes focused on their professional expertise, skills, and artistic practice.

 

Students will be able to:

  • experiment with a variety of artistic processes
  • develop critical thinking skills and prosocial behavior
  • practice positive expression of ideas and emotions
  • make artwork inspired by the local community, heritage, and personal identity 
  • create a portfolio of artwork to exhibit at the end of the year

For Adults: Ask-a-Lawyer - 2020 Lawyers and Libraries Series

During National Pro Bono Week, attorneys throughout Louisiana will give free 15 - 20 minute consultations by phone, limited to a variety of non-criminal topics. Registration required.

 

Participants can ask questions on subjects such as the following:

  • Bankruptcy
  • Civil lawsuits
  • Collection matters
  • Custody
  • Divorce
  • Evictions
  • FEMA/disaster benefits
  • Food stamps
  • Foreclosures
  • Housing
  • Medicaid
  • Social Security
  • SSI/SSDI
  • Successions
  • Taxes
  • Wills

A valid e-mail address and working telephone number are required to sign up. If needed, you can call any Library location for assistance with the registration process. Attorneys will contact participants at the number provided during registration.

In this virtual cooking demonstration, Chef Tasheena Butler of Liberty's Kitchen teaches participants how to cook a delicious, nutritious meal with products offered at the Broadmoor Food Pantry.

 

This week's program features creole mustard and herb-crusted pork chops with roasted potatoes.

Book Bundles

New Service Alert!

The Book Bundle service allows a Library user to call any location and provide a topic or author they are interested in. Library staff will then create a bundle of 2 - 5 books based on that topic or author and place them on hold where the user can pick them up through Contactless Materials Pick-Up or a 45-Minute In-Library Session.
