Among Us on Twitch: A Virtual Open House at Best Buy Teen Tech Center

Hop on Twitch to play Among Us, an outer space game of deduction and mystery. Who is the imposter? Can you stop them before they destroy the spaceship and all your crewmates? How sus are you?

Participants must fill out a liability waiver. Participants 12 years and younger must have adult supervision.

To play along, download Among Us on any smart device before joining; to watch the game played, download Twitch. We recommend using two devices for the best possible experience- one device to play the game and another to watch us on Twitch.

All skill levels are welcome, but beginners are encouraged to attend as participants will follow a painting tutorial from Creativebug with input and help from an artist moderator.

Virtual Creative Writing Workshop

Writers will create, share, and critique original work while learning to develop their own voice and style via Zoom. Novice and experienced writers are welcome. Registration required.

This program is led by Kathleen Balma, a Pushcart Prize-winning poet, Fulbright fellow, and librarian at New Orleans Public Library. Email her at kbalma@nolalibrary.org to register and to get the Zoom meeting information. Interested persons only need to register once to attend any/all events in this series.

All genres are welcome. Participants may submit poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, or a short excerpt from a play/screenplay or novel.

Katy will use standard workshop/peer critique norms and etiquette, which will be reviewed briefly at the beginning of each workshop. Etiquette and norms are as follows:

  1. Treat everyone with civility and respect.
  2. Be mindful of what you are making visible to others; all visuals should be appropriate for a public meeting space.
  3. Please mute your mic and refrain from making written comments when your own work is being critiqued.
  4. Creative expressions are welcome; hate speech is not.
