OPENING THIS WEEK

On view at NOMA beginning this Friday, September 9Louise Bourgeois: Paintings is the first comprehensive exhibition of the celebrated artist’s paintings. With these early works, created in the decade spanning World War II, Bourgeois established a core group of visual motifs that she continued to explore and develop throughout her career.

New Orleans’s best outdoor celebration is back! Join us on Friday, September 23, for LOVE in the Garden Presented by Hancock Whitney, held in honor of Sydney J. Besthoff III.

REARRANGING THE PLANETS

Steve Lands’s out-of-this-world performance returns to NOMA’s Lapis Center for the Arts on September 9 and 10. Lands debuted the work at the museum during a sold-out run earlier this year.

On Friday, September 16, Ecos Latinos and NOMA present a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration featuring a line-up of music and dance from local and international performers.

On Wednesday, September 14, curator Mel Buchanan discusses how Katherine Choy’s artwork shows larger shifts within the craft world in the United States in the 1950s.

Surrealist artist Lee Miller used photography to transform ordinary moments into something mysterious and unsettling. Curator Russell Lord shares a 1931 work by Miller.
