Box Lunch Cooking Demonstration- Saturday 1/17/2017

Looking for something to do INSIDE this weekend? Come visit Hollygrove Market and Farm tomorrow  (Saturday January 7th) for a fun cooking demo Box Lunch! Matthew Kopfler of l'enfant terrible new orleans will develop a new menu each week using items from the box and other local goods found in-store. This series seeks not only to showcase deliciously prepared food, but to share inspiration: Recipes will be available in-person and online so that our customers will be able to try their hand at these dishes themselves using the wonderful selection of produce and goods we have available. This week's box includes:

• strawberries
• herbs
• scarlet queen turnips
• broccoli
• dino kale or chard
• sweet potato
• la sweet orange
• red radish
• flame grapefruit or satsuma
• beets
• bibb lettuce

Kopfler is passionate about local produce, knows a lot about growing and selecting fruits and vegetables, and likes to cook based upon what is available, fresh, and in season. Kopfler's pop-up, L'enfant Terrible, is well-known around town and never fails to please!

In addition to this fun weekly event, Kopfler will be joined once a month by a guest chef for a cook-off. Chefs will compete to see who has made better use of the available ingredients, with customers voting for their favorite.

I never want to have cancer again. Like most natives, I love to cook and eat. I must learn to make better choices when choosing what to ear (as well as how much).

There are  many  community resources available in New Orleans to help us meet this goal. Besides our major grocery chains, we have (this page is always being updated) :

1. The Crescent City Farmer’s Market with locations throughout the city, has a comprehensive web site complete with recipes .


2. The Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine  -- pay particular attention to the community info and handouts/recipes sections.
