Join us this Sunday, June 19, for a day of activities to celebrate Juneteenth—the annual holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States—and support the ongoing movement for justice, equity, and liberation.
Come together for special programs, performances, guided tours, and art-making activities for all ages. Stop by throughout the day to share what celebrating Juneteenth means to you.
All programs are free to the public.
EGYPTIAN BLUE
Until the development of the first known synthetic pigment, artisans would have used lapis lazuli from modern-day Afghanistan to produce the color blue.
SHOW US SOME LOVE
The Besthoff Sculpture Garden is nominated for USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Award for Best Sculpture Park in the United States! Vote once per day through Monday, July 4.
FINAL WEEKS
Ancestors in Stone highlights an important akwanshi stone monolith from the Cross River region of Nigeria. Catch the exhibition before it closes on Sunday, July 10.
IN-PERSON TALK
In conjunction with Queen Nefertari’s Egypt, Egyptologist and scholar Kara Cooney gives a lecture about the roles of women in ancient Egypt on Friday, June 24.

BABY ARTSPLAY!
Every Saturday through July 9, Young Audiences of Louisiana presents free art-based workshops for children ages 12–24 months and their caregivers—inspired by works on view at NOMA.
