Make Preparations for Tropical Storm Gordon
The following is an important message from the NOLA Ready Emergency Alert System.
The City of New Orleans continues to monitor Tropical Storm Gordon, which is expected to impact the NOLA region late Tuesday through Wednesday. The main impacts are expected to be heavy rain, high winds, and coastal flooding in areas outside of the levee system. Residents are encouraged to prepare property for heavy rain and wind, gather supplies, and plan to shelter in place during severe weather. More information is available at ready.nola.gov.
Clean your property and street
Remove debris from gutters and downspouts.
Clear debris from in front of catch basins. Never lift a catch basin lid or insert anything into a catch basin.
Report clogged catch basins to 3-1-1.
To reduce the risk of street flooding, do not park in front of or on a catch basin.
Prune trees and shrubs.
Bring outdoor furniture and decorations inside.
Secure or bring garbage bins inside.
Stay safe during heavy rain
Don’t walk or drive through flood waters.
If water rises around your car, abandon the car immediately.
