Friday Nights at NOMA features lecture, "Viewing Art in 18th-Century Paris," as final event for The Orléans Collection
As the closing event for The Orléans Collection, NOMA welcomes art scholar Andrew McClellan for a lecture titled "Viewing Art in 18th-Century Paris" for Friday Nights at NOMA on January 25. The Parisian-inspired band Pardon My French will perform in the Great Hall, and artist Cristina Molina will lead visitors through Ear to the Ground: Earth and Element in Contemporary Art in an interactive performance. Register in advance for a Create Late art making session, or join the popular Art on the Spot family activity table:

Join a Create Late art making class on Friday, January 25
Exclusively for adults, kick off your weekend with a glass of wine and a hands-on art lesson during Friday Nights at NOMA. Enroll now in a Create Late session from 6:30 - 8 pm on Friday, January 25. Participants will learn to draw folded fabric using pencil and colored pencil, inspired by depictions of flowing fabric in The Orléans Collection. Final day to view The Orléans Collection is Sunday, January 27
NOMA's once-in-a-lifetime exhibition The Orléans Collection will be disassembled and sent back to 25 lending insitutions after Sunday, January 27. Make plans now to visit -- or revisit -- this reunion of European masterworks formerly housed in the Palais-Royal of New Orleans' namesake, Philippe II, Duke of Orléans. Final events this week will include:
Wednesday, January 23, 12 pm | Noontime Talk with Curator Vanessa Schmid, and at 3 pm a docent-led Small Talk on Antoine Coypel's Assembly of the Gods.
Friday, January 25, 5 - 9 pm | During Friday Nights at NOMA, Curator Vanessa Schmid will lead a Gallery Talk at 6 pm. Guest lecturer Andrew McClellan will deliver a talk, "Viewing Art in 18th-Century Paris," at 7 pm.

Small Talks, Noontime Talks, and daily tours
Small Talks are 10- to 15-minute discussions focused on a single object or small range of objects within the permanent collection or special exhibitions. In the week ahead, topics will include Antoine Coypel's Assembly of the Gods and Rober Henri's The Blue Kimono. View the full list of talks and tours.
Noontime Talks are casual conversations scheduled at noon between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors. Curator Vanessa Schmid will discuss The Orléans Collection on Wednesday, January 23. Curator Ndubuisi Ezeluomba will discuss African ancestral screens and bundles on Wednesday, January 30.
Docent-guided tours are offered daily at 1 pm. Tours of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are given on Saturdays and Mondays at noon, weather permitting. Call 504.658.4153 to verify.

Children engage in hands-on art activities in Studio KIDS!
Studio KIDS! returns with a range of activities that allow children ages 5 to 10 to get creative in an art making class. Each session features different media under the instruction of skilled teaching artists. Studio KIDS! will be held on the following Saturday mornings from 10 to 11:30 am:
- February 2 - Honored Ancestors
- February 16 - Creative Collage
- March 9 - Pastel Drawing: Vibrant Blooms
- March 16 - Acrylic Painting: Color Me Happy
- April 6 - Personal Pendant

Wellness Classes among the artworks
NOMA, in collaboration with East Jefferson Wellness Center, offers wellness classes every Saturday morning and Monday evening.
Yoga in the Sculpture Garden: Saturday, January 26, 8 - 9 am
Tai Chi/Chi Kung: Monday, January 28, 6 - 7 pm

In the weeks ahead at NOMA
Friday, February 1, 7 pm: NOMA's Arts & Letters Series continues with novelist and biographer Edmund White, a pioneer in gay literature, joining Tulane professor Thomas Beller for a discussion during Friday Nights at NOMA.
Friday, February 8, 5 - 9 pm: A Night of India will feature Indian music, food, dance, movies, and gallery tours as NOMA partners with the Indian Arts Circle of New Orleans for an evening celebration.
