Studio KIDS! fall workshops open for enrollment
This fall Studio KIDS! presents eight workshops for children ages 5 to 10 who want to get creative and learn art-making techniques inspired by works at NOMA and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. The classes are held Saturday mornings from 10 am to 12 pm; cost per class: $25 members | $30 nonmembers. For the first class, scheduled for Saturday, September 7, participants will create a "quilted" square in mixed media, in conjunction with the exhibition The Quilts of Gee's Bend. Buy tickets or sponsorships for LOVE in the Garden
Tickets and sponsorships are now on sale for LOVE in the Garden, NOMA's annual outdoor fundraiser in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden on Friday, September 27, from 6:30 to midnight. Guests will enjoy food from more than 60 of New Orleans' finest restaurants and craft cocktails from competitive bartenders, along with music and dancing beneath the moss-draped oaks.

August is Museum Month with free entry to partnering museums for NOMA members
August is New Orleans Museum Month, a collaboration among cultural institutions of all sizes across the metro area. NOMA members have the opportunity to visit all partnering museums FREE OF CHARGE for the entire month. A NOMA membership permits free entry for two persons to any participating museum with no limits to the number of visits. Join NOMA now or call (504) 658-4130 or visit the front desk.

Videos by Iranian-exile artist Shirin Neshat screened every Wednesday through October 9
Three videos by Iranian-born artist Shirin Neshat will be screened on continuous loop from 10 am to 1 pm every Wednesday through October 9 (excluding July 31) in Stern Auditorium as part of the Bodies of Knowledge exhibition. Titled Turbulent, Rapture, and Fervor, the short films capture the dichotomies of modern life in Iran and implications of the 1979 Islamic revolution upon women. Attend a talk, tour, or gallery activation
Guided tours of the museum are offered daily at 1 pm. Tours of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are given on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays at noon, weather permitting. Call 504.658.4153 to verify.
Wednesday, August 28, 12 pm: Curator Mel Buchanan will discuss The Quilts of Gee's Bend in the Decorative Arts Galleries.
Wedneday, August 28, 1 - 3 pm: A Gallery Activation of Wafaa Bilal's installation 168:01 encourages NOMA visitors to take a blank book in exchange for a published book, for sale in the NOMA Shop, that will be shipped to a university in Baghdad, Iraq, at the close of the exhibition. Wednesday, September 4, 12 pm: African Art Curator Ndubuisi Ezeluomba will discuss Ancestors in Stone.

Free admission for military families through Labor Day
The New Orleans Museum of Art is pleased to once again participate in Blue Star Museums, a collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America.
Each summer since 2010, Blue Star Museums have offered free admission to the nation's active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve, from Memorial Day through Labor Day (Monday, September 2). More than 2,000 museums across America are participating in Blue Star Museums.

Wellness Classes among the artworks
NOMA, in collaboration with East Jefferson Wellness Center, offers wellness classes every Saturday morning and Monday evening.
