This Week at the New Orleans Public Library for Adults

Adult Events

Lawyers in Libraries: Free Legal Advice

Discuss your legal concerns one-on-one with a local lawyer. Advice provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The clinic does not handle criminal cases. Do you have divorce or custody issues? Need information about food stamps, Medicaid or Social Security? Want advice on bankruptcy, taxes, wills, and housing? A licensed attorney can answer your question or direct you to the resources you need. In partnership with the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Legal Education Assistance Program (LEAP) and the Louisiana Library Association (LLA).

Your mission, should you choose to accept it...

will be to crack clues, solve challenges, and win prizes at the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library's James Bond-themed scavenger hunt throughout the Main Library on Saturday November 9 from 6:30pm - 10:30pm. Proceeds from this ticketed fundraising event will support the Library's 2020 Summer Fun program.

The first-place winner will receive two (2) domestic round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines. Guests will celebrate their successes after the hunt with live music by SOUL Brass Band and the Worry Free Jazz Duo, presented by Young Audiences; an open bar; and a silent auction. Some of our city’s best eateries, including Gattuso's, Liberty Cheesecake, Zea, Tartine, Laurel Street Bakery, and Munch Factory, will be serving delicious food throughout the night. Proper spy attire encouraged.

Auction items include artwork by Dr. Bob, jewelry from Mignon Faget, 3 custom-built Little Free Libraries, LSU home game football tickets, a chartered fishing trip for 4, resort packages, luxury services, and more.

Buy your tickets here.
