News from the Ignatian Yoga Community

The Prophetic Imagination

"It is the vocation of the prophet to keep alive the ministry of imagination, to keep on conjuring and proposing alternative futures to the single one the king wants to urge as the only thinkable one." -Walter Brueggemann
IMAGINE ANOTHER WAY OF BEING

When so much is uncertain and unstable,
When we are overwhelmed by violence, suffering and sadness,
When we feel like we are on the brink of change,
The prophets speak.

Prophets emerge at critical moments in history,
turning points for communities on the precipice of change.
They strongly and unapologetically denounce injustice.
They also offer faith and hope.

The prophets tell us that this is not the way the world should be
and
that another world is possible.

The prophets invite us to imagine another way of being.
