Cancer patients are waiting. Will Congress act?ADVOCACY REQUEST

Cathy,

Will it ever end?

The news about a coronavirus vaccine has given Americans and the world a glimmer of hope that we will be able to overcome this pandemic sometime late next year.

But cancer patients can’t wait. They need access to lifesaving clinical trials and breakthrough treatments, and they need it now. For many, late next year could be too late.

Over the next few days, Congress will be negotiating a potential final COVID-19 relief package for the year. We need them to include funding to immediately restart the cancer clinical trials that had been halted and the innovative cancer research that has been delayed.

Please send a message to your U.S. Representative and Senators and ask them to push for these provisions during this weekend’s negotiations. It takes less than a minute using our easy action form.

Cancer patients need that next cure. They need that next breakthrough treatment.

Organizations like the American Cancer Society are doing all they can to help cancer patients and their families during these challenging times. That’s why we’re also asking Congress to support organizations that provide critical services to patients.

This is our last chance before Congress goes home for the year to extend greater help to people diagnosed with cancer. Let’s be sure your members of Congress know that fighting cancer needs to be a priority in this final bill of the year.

Thank you for your quick action.
