East New Orleans Regional Library will be closed on Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5, for facilities maintenance.

 

Algiers Regional Library, Milton H. Latter Memorial Library, and Norman Mayer Library will serve as polling locations for the December 5 election and will not be offering Library services that day.


Library locations are providing 45-Minute In-Library Sessions and Contactless Materials Pick-Up & Drop-Off during specified times.

For Children: Virtual Storytime

Read, sing, talk, write, and play together virtually in a format designed for children from birth to 5 years old and their caregivers.

Students of Tulane University's Latin American studies program and teacher preparation & certification program will read bilingual stories.

For Teens: Teen Zoom Game Day

Hang out with friends, make new ones, and play digital versions of a large selection of games. All you'll need to access the fun is a Zoom account and a web browser. Registration required.

Winter Writing Contest

Escape the Winter with Our Writing Contest for Adults

The New Orleans Public Library wants your short story, poem, or essay for our 2021 Winter Writing Contest. This year's theme is "Escape."

 

To enter the contest, submit your original work via email to contest@nolalibrary.org. Put “2021 Winter Writing Contest” in the subject line. Paste the entire entry into the body of the email along with your name, email address, phone number, and Library card number. Emails with attachments will be deleted unread. Entries will be accepted from December 4, 2020, until 5pm on January 8, 2021. Only digital submissions will be accepted this year. Interested parties without home internet access are encouraged to reserve a 45-Minute In-Library Session to submit entries.

 

Winning entries will be posted on our website, and winners will be awarded a gift certificate for the Friends Book Sale, courtesy of the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library.
