After an incredible 2017 that included delivering presentations in 23 states — from Portland to Charleston (and everywhere in between); reviewing 245 resumes for job-seeking cancer survivors; distributing more than 72,600 publications nationwide to patients, caregivers, hospitals, employers and anyone touched by cancer; and reaching more than 475,000 people via cancerandcareers.org and cancerandcareers.org/espanolwe are excited to bring you even more in 2018!

CAC's mission to empower and educate people with cancer to thrive in their workplace has never been more necessary. Our goal every year is to bring you relevant 
— and free programs that make navigating employment and cancer easier. Thank YOU for being part of our community!
 

Since 2012, Cancer and Careers has brought 206 people from 47 states to New York City; now is your chance to be one of them! Cancer and Careers' Professional Development Micro-Grant Program offers cancer patients and survivors financial assistance to acquire or advance job-related skills.

We encourage you to find the professional development opportunity that would be most relevant and useful for your work goals. Previous micro-grant awards have included activities such as:

  • Career-coaching sessions
  • Trade conferences
  • Workshops
  • Certification programs

Applications for the 2017 Professional Development Micro-Grants will be open on Monday, October 2nd, 2018 and accepted through Monday, November 6th, 2017. This program offers cancer patients and survivors financial assistance to acquire or advance job-related skills. A 2016 Micro-Grant recipient said:

“I had lost a lot of my identity when I had to leave my job because of cancer. [Receiving the micro-grant] was a huge step for my recovery—to reclaim my career.”


Some examples of how the micro-grants can be used include online courses, career coaching, workshops and certifications.
